Nothing in Layla and Max’s world will ever be the same.
Since Max left, and joined his father in the Shadow Realm, everything in Layla’s life has changed. The Demon Gods threaten to destroy the Otherworld, and an inconceivable darkness has awakened—a darkness that wants control of Layla’s will. It also wants Max … dead. Not only must Layla face the true fire simmering inside her, but fight the one she loves most.
And this time, with her friends and family left behind, she’s completely on her own.
Leaving Layla nearly destroyed Max, but it was his only choice. Now, he must play the part—stay in control of his end goal, his actions, and the poison coursing through his veins, clouding his thoughts, and turning him into what he fears most, a Demon God. But even with his Oghams fighting the toxins, his control is slipping. Living in the Fomore castle with his Vampyre Fae ex-girlfriend isn’t making it any easier to stay sane, and waiting to face off against Layla is taking its toll.
In the final installment of the Fire Born Novels trilogy, the legendary Battle will be fought, and Layla and Max stand to lose everything. How far will they go to save each other and protect the ones they love? Even they don’t know the answer.
No one can win.
From the ashes of old,
They shall rise.
The last of the Ancients,
Foe and Ally.
The Legend lies in wait,
And bides its time.
Until at last the day comes,
For the children born of fire.

My Review

I loved this book even more than the first! The chemistry between Marissa and Garrett jumps right off of the page!

Marissa is the best friend of Ashley the main character from The Accidental Movie star. Being the great friend that she is, Ashley get’s Marissa her dream summer job as an intern for a popular reality cooking show and a gig as the personal chef for her boyfriend Caspian’s insanely hot best friend Garrett. Like Caspian, Garrett is a successful movie star and the only reason that he gave Marissa the job was because he wanted to do his friends a favor. He plans on just letting her crash in one of the spare rooms  and ignoring her for the Summer, but Marissa is having none of that! She refuses to live in his house without doing the job she is being paid for. She starts leaving these delicious meals in his refrigerator and as soon as he taste them he’s hooked!

While working as an intern for the cooking show, Marissa is forced to fill in for a contestant who had to drop out and becomes a reality tv star overnight. The authors take on how things work behind the scenes of the shows that we all hate to admit we watch was terrific. There’s the backbiting that you would expect, but Marissa handles herself like a pro and takes it all in stride. I won’t say that she’s never shaken up, but no matter what is thrown at her she finds a way to continue to go after her dreams of being a chef.

Garrett is unbelievable!!!!! I didn’t go crazy for him in the first book because he did something that ticked me off, but he more that redeemed himself. He was supportive and a great friend to Marissa until they became more. Did I also mention that he has a freaking Scottish accent?! HOT! He lust after Marissa’s cooking as much as he does her, and they are adorable from start to finish!

Whether you’ve read the first book or not, you’ll enjoy this one, but you’ll be missing out if you don’t read The Accidental movie star! Caspian is almost as swoon inducing as Garrett! I say almost because I have a thing for Scottish accents. 😉

I would recommend this book if you’re in the mood for cute romance with a dash of humor!

Don’t let the cover fool you. This book is clean and I would recommend it for ages 14 and up because of a few kissing scenes. Don’t worry, they keep their hands where they belong!
